We’re making improvements in our pool!
Starting Monday, April 16, 2018 the JCC pool will be closed for renovation. Thank you for your patience as we bring a much improved pool area for your swimming comfort.
Our newly renovated men’s and ladies’ locker rooms offer a clean and secure changing area with direct entry to the pool. We also offer an alternate changing room where dads can assist daughters or moms can assist sons when youngsters have reached that stage where changing requires assistance but the locker rooms are no longer appropriate.
We are pleased to welcome the British Swim School, who has taken over the swim program at the JCC. We value their expertise in providing excellent water safety, survival and swimming lessons for all ages, three months to adults.
Tours of the pool area as well as other areas such as our fitness center, rental rooms, gym and classrooms are always available.

Swimming Lessons for Kids and Adults
Concerned About Your Kids Around Water?
Rest Assured, We Are Specialists – Training Kids So They Are Safe, Confident and Can Have Fun!
Who is British Swim School?
We are the premier provider of water-survival and learn-to-swim lessons in the U.S.. We have been teaching our signature survival-based method for over 35 years, and are currently teaching over 12,000 kids every week across the nation. We are new to Hudson County, and proud to be bringing our unique program to Xchange first. Our focus is the safety of your child, and each child will first learn how to survive in the water before we start teaching stroke development.
What is the program?
All classes are 30-minutes long. Our program is year-round, ongoing and goal-oriented. Unlike other programs, we are not session based. Your child will learn at its own pace, and move up to the next level as soon as it masters the necessary skills for that class. Its progress will not be slowed down by other children in a class. The instructors work on these particular skills and goals in each lesson your child takes. This is also the reason we recommend twice per week lessons, as we see children move up 3 times faster than with just one lesson per week.
Our program starts with survival skills, and systematically moves towards developing swimming skills. Our lessons are taught by highly trained instructors who went through an intense 40h training with us, in addition to being Lifeguard, CPR and First Aid certified, as well as being background checked.
It is also important to know the kids under 3 years of age need a different approach to swim lessons as compared to kids over 3, as their bodies and especially their muscles are not developed enough for certain skills. Our program is especially designed for this age-appropriate approach.
We offer scheduled adult lessons in small groups. Our instructors will develop a training program with you based on your skill level. We mostly teach absolute beginners, but can also help competitive swimmers and triathletes to improve their swimming technique and get faster. Individual 1:1 lessons are also available upon request.
To find out what class and level is right for your child, we offer a convenient Class Assignment Wizard on our website. Use this tool to asses your child and find a class online.
